Confidence

Many guys I work with express to me that they want to feel more confident.

Most people think they will feel more confident when they drop some body fat, build muscle and generally improve their appearance.

This is true, but this process is usually further down the line in your journey.

Confidence can be described as:

“the feeling or belief that one can have faith in or rely on someone or something.”

With regards to starting training, I believe that people feel an improved confidence way before they see a physical difference.

There’s 2 reasons I think this is true.

Firstly, you become confident in your ability of actually doing what you said you would do, and sticking to it.

Keeping promises to yourself that you get shit done.

Instead of being that guy who fails to follow through on his intentions.  That eats away at you.

Secondly, it doesn’t matter what it is – consistently delaying gratification is a great way to feel confident in yourself.

You know you’d rather hit snooze instead of training, sit on the couch instead of an evening walk or consuming junk food instead of healthy food.

But when you consistently choose the harder option this builds an unbreakable confidence in knowing you’re a guy that makes hard choices that benefits his and his families life in the future.

Obviously looking better will make you feel more confident but so will winning the small mental battles that you face on a daily basis with your fitness journey.
