There’s never been a more confusing time if you’re trying to get in shape.
Online coaches selling programmes having never trained a person in a gym.
Influencers telling you you need an 18 step morning routine.
Coaches spending more time making cool reels than actually getting better at coaching.
Geared up bodybuilders telling you not to eat bread because its poison.
Everyone at your work is an expert on all things health and fitness despite most of them being overweight.
Meat will kill you.
Eggs will kill you.
Plastic food boxes will kill you.
You shouldn’t eat broccoli.
You need electrolytes in the morning.
You need half an hour of sunlight upon wakening.
Zone 2 is better than HIIT.
You need to do a 72 hour fast.
Deadlifts are bad for you.
Deadlifts are the best exercise in the world.
The conflicting, confusing advice is a nightmare for people to filter through.
The problem is, PTs / Coaches / Influencers need to be controversial to get views on them.
The other problem is most of the good information from solid sources gets lost in all this nonsense.
Most of the stuff that works for most people is pretty bland – but it works.
My message has been very consistent over the past 20 years of training everyday athletes.
It’s not flashy or fancy – I don’t have time to spend making super slick videos, I spend my day working with clients.
If you’re lost and don’t know where to start – be as consistent as you can with these things and you won’t be far away from improving your health and being in good shape.
✔️Drink 2 litres of water/day
✔️Sleep 7-8 hours of sleep/night
✔️Eat mostly minimally processed foods
✔️Lift weights 2-4/week
✔️Elevated the Heart Rate 2-4/week
✔️10k steps/day
✔️Hit your protein target (2g/KG of BW is a good target)
Nothing cool here, just the stuff that works all the time.
Job done.
