“Success leaves clues, but failure reveals answers.”
This pic is from the last match, the Semi Final of the open weight, at my comp in November, I had just won Gold in my division and 4 straight matches before this match.
I got tapped out in about 2 minutes.
As much as I hated losing, I learned much more than I had in the 4 wins prior.
The term ‘success leaves clues’ is frequently used, especially in the fitness industry.
Studying the actions and behaviours of those that are in the position you wish to emulate is an efficacious way of achieving the given pursuit.
Inversely, failing and failure can be as beneficial, if not more.
I’m sure at some stage in our lives we have failed in your fitness journey and / or in life.
If you haven’t, then you’ve maybe not left your comfort zone.
Have you attempted to lose weight or get in shape but it didn’t go to plan?
Did you reflect on what went wrong?
Why did you not achieve your goal?
What things went well during the pursuit?
What things didn’t work for you?
We often ignore the lessons failure has bestowed upon us.
I’m not downplaying the benefits of trying to emulate other successful humans.
But, is attempting to copy the Rocks diet or Elon Musks work rate going to help you?
Chances are the answers you are looking can be found in previous failed attempts.
We should always be looking forward, but some of the best lessons are found in past failures.
