It’s been 3 years since I first met Marck Goran during our first Combined Strength trip to Slovenia.
Andy had spoken to him online and we had arranged to meet Marck at his gym in Maribor for some training.
At the time I didn’t realise the impact meeting Marck would have on me as a coach.
During our first encounter Marck said something that really resonated with myself and others in the group, it was along the lines of:
I do not want to suffer, but I know I have to.

At this moment we realised we were in for some tough training and this turned out to be absolutely true.
You can read about it all in this blog post:

When it comes to training, losing fat, reaching a fitness goal it is important to realise that there must be an element of suffering and sacrifice in order to achieve an outcome.
No one really wants to suffer but when you can accept that it is part of the process then you can make great progress.

There’s no doubt about it, ice cream is more appealing than green veg, sitting on the couch watching Netflix is more appealing than hard work at the gym, however those that do are in shape and live a healthy life will know they have to pick the option to ‘suffer’ and improve rather than chose the easy path and regress.
When we say ‘suffer’ it doesn’t need to be extreme stuff, it’s just about realising that when faced with decisions you need to make sacrifices in order to develop and improve.
I have learned many things from Marck over the years but this first meeting with him really struck a chord and has shaped me over the past 3 years.

Immerse yourself in the suffering.
