What would a fit person do?

Many people struggle to get in shape, lose weight or build muscle due to deep rooted habits that they cannot change.

No matter how much people try, they can’t seem to break the habits that are not conducive to them reaching their goals or to build new habits that will allow them to progress.

An alternative approach to this might be to look at it in a different way. Rather than try and change the way you have tried before, why not look at changing your identity.

This does not require you to register a new name and undergo cosmetic surgery, however by shifting your mindset, you can make some great progress.

Your current identity maybe that of a ‘failed dieter’, ‘an overweight individual’, or ‘someone that’s unhealthy’.

If this is who you believe you are then you will live up to your self proclaimed title through your choices and actions.

However, you can change who you are.

If you want to get in shape – think and act like a ‘Fit Person’.

I am using the term loosely – this will mean something different to everyone. Fit to you might be a bodybuilder, a runner, a crossfitter or the older guy who is strong and able.

When faced with decisions and choices throughout the day, ask yourself what would a ‘Fit Person’ do?

Would they get up before work and go to the gym?

Would they drink water instead of Coke?

Would they take the stairs instead of the lift?

Would they cook a homemade meal instead of getting a takeaway?

When you start thinking like a ‘Fit Person’ you will start acting like one, when your actions start to mimic that of a ‘Fit Person’ then this will eventually become your identity and you will make the appropriate decisions that embody the person you now are.

In order to make a change you need to rid yourself of self imposed limitations.

Who you are in this present moment in time doesn’t need to be who you will always be.

You have complete control and you can do something about it.
